No, I think Derek had his sexual awakening in middle or high school. He’s aloof about being a werewolf, so I get the feeling he’d be pretty casual about being demi/bi (I headcanon that he’s almost strictly demi, but I also imagine he could easily be demi-bi). He wouldn’t share that info until it was relevant, like WHEN he’d want to ask out Stiles.
Derek would be like, ‘hey, i’ve been waiting a long time to ask you this, but – would you wanna get dinner with me sometime?’ and Stiles would be like ‘lol shut up’ and after a long pause, he’d be like ‘waIT ARE YOU SERIOUS RN??’ and Derek would be like ‘why is everyone surprised i’m bi/demi? why is everyone more surprised about that than they are about me being a werewolf???’
From what I’ve gathered, most people get inklings about their sexualities and romantic orientations in middle and high school, when hormones are running high. I imagine Derek probably having a bi-crisis in the middle of a basketball game, but then being like ‘well, that is not the most interesting thing about me, so i’m not gonna worry about it,’ and then being Super Aloof, as his stoic personality calls for lol
