Here’s the deal: Stiles and Derek grew up together but after a barn fire at the Hale ranch they grew apart. Derek’s parents died saving him and his sisters who had been camping out in the hayloft that night. Ever since the Hale siblings have all been different in their own ways, Laura moved away to New York for school and decided to stay out there. Cora pushed everyone who cared about her so far away that not even her siblings really know her anymore, and Derek? Well Derek left for the Rodeo.
I think I’m going to be technically a few minutes late by the time this posts, but for the @teenwolfdrabbles word “furry”… It’s a werewolf show. What do you want from me?

“I’m not a furry!” Stiles protests, but Scott still seems skeptical.
“Dude, you asked Derek to”—and Scott glances around for fear they might be both heard and believed—“knot you. I think that makes you a furry.”
“First of all, that’s—” Stiles flails, searching for the worlds. “Speciesist. Or subspeciesist or something. He was born that way. That’s natural. For him.”
“If he wasn’t a werewolf, would you be into him?”
“Yes,” Stiles answers emphatically. Then, “If being into werewolves makes me a furry then so’s Allison.”
Scott balks. “Allison isn’t a furry.”
“Isn’t she though?” Stiles returns, triumphant.
