Teen Wolf AU: When Derek returns half-dead once again, Stiles thinks it’s about time someone told him he is the only one who doesn’t see how much he means to other people.
“Listen, Derek, I’m happy here, ok? Sure, the other mother is a little strange, but I can totally deal with strange. Strange is totally my thing.” Stiles explained.
“She’s more than strange. She’s twisted. And trust me, you won’t be happy here for long.” Derek added as he marched on ahead.
“I won’t be happy here for long? What’s that supposed to mean? I have friends here, people who care, I have my mom back, and you know what else?? Lydia actually notices me in this world!” The teen gestured wildly with his arms. “I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t sound terrible at all.”
“This is exactly what she wants. You’re walking right into her trap.” The other snorted.
“Trap?”
“She’s trying to impress you with all the things the other world isn’t letting you have.”
“Is that so bad??”
“No, not yet, it isn’t.”
“ Ok, hold up, tall, dark and terrifying! How about you at least TRY and make some sense here? ” Stiles demanded.
“I can’t believe this—- Don’t you get it??? She’s going to make you stay here with her FOREVER.” Derek practically spat out the last word. “She’ll spoil you and love you, all until she gets bored.”
Stiles pulled a face. What a load of nonsense, he thought.
“And when that happens, you’ll be tossed aside like nothing.” Derek continued.
And that’s exactly when Stiles stopped walking, refusing to take another step.
“… You’re lying.”
“Am I?”
“Yeah, you are! She’s my mom. She’d NEVER do that to me—“
“Listen to yourself, Stiles. She’s not even really your mother, is she?” The older man glanced back over his shoulder, stopping in his tracks. “Your mother died a long time ago… remember? You even said so yourself.”
Stiles quickly fell into yet another silence.
Derek simply rolled his eyes and let out a dramatic sigh, before crouching down onto the ground. “You’re an idiot, Stiles Stilinski.”
Stiles dragged his gaze over toward Derek, shining his flash light across at him.
“Derek…”
He would never admit it, but Derek sort of felt sorry for Stiles. He knew what it was like to lose something important. He knew what it was like to dream and wish so much that second chances like this were given with no strings attached.
“You need to snap out of it.” He warned. “I’m going to get you out of here in one piece, kid”
“I promise.”

voicemail. But seconds after it stopped, the relentless ringing started again.
Sighing, she peeled off her work gloves and fished the phone out of her back
pocket. The display read Unknown Caller and Laura looked at it oddly. No one ever called her. Unless it was for work.
She still couldn’t figure out how people got her personal number.
