I can finally share the piece I wrote for the @sterekzine! I’m so glad I was able to participate and be included in a zine with so many amazing artists and authors. I hope you guys were able to get a copy because it looks gorgeous! Check out their blog if you didn’t, I think they mentioned something about possibly doing a PDF only 2nd run??
“What’s on the TVs today?” Stiles asks, mostly to himself since Scott’s in the back working on pizzas and Isaac’s out on a delivery. Stiles peeks his head in the order window that opens into the video store next door and strains his neck to see what’s playing on the screens near the cash register.
He watches for a few minutes until he can figure out the movie–Vertigo–and shakes his head. “That’s not even the best Hitchcock film!” he shouts into the empty video store. He can’t see anyone, which is usually the norm–he’s not even sure why Finstock keeps the video rental part of their joint pizza and movie establishment open, but he’s not complaining when he can occasionally watch parts of movies while he’s on shift.
And maybe also flirt with the video store employee while he’s on shift, too.
“Stiles?” Cora asked, staring at her brother in shock. “You’re dating Stiles?”
“Yes,” Derek answered, passing her the cup of coffee he had made.
She hoisted herself up onto the kitchen counter, cupping the coffee in her hands as she continued, “Skinny, defenceless, flailing Stiles?”
“Yes,” Derek replied, slouching back against the counter. “Although, he’s far from defenceless.”
“Why?” Cora asked.
“Because he’s charming and smart and-”
Derek didn’t get to finish his sentence because Stiles burst into the kitchen, panicked and panting. “Derek! Is slutty a state of dress or a state of mind?”
There was a moment of silence as Cora met her brother’s gaze. They both held their breaths, fighting back their laughter. But they failed. Cora snorted and burst out laughing and Derek couldn’t help but laugh too.
“Stop laughing, this is serious!” Stiles insisted.
Derek took a second to compose himself, gasping for air as his shoulders shook with silenced laughter. He set down his coffee, his stomach aching from laughing so hard. He waked over to Stiles, pulling him close and kissing him before stepping into the living room.
“Derek,” Stiles called after him. “I need answers!”
“Ask Erica,” Derek shouted over his shoulder.
“I can’t,” Stiles replied. “I know she’ll hit me if I do.”
“You’r afraid of Erica!” Cora teased, bursting into laughter again.
“I am not,” Stiles objected. “Only little… Okay, yeah, I am and with good reason!”
Derek pulled his phone from his pocket and dialled in the number. It ran three times before a familiar voice answered. “Hey,” Derek said. “I’ve got a question for you. Is slutty a state of dress or a state of mind?”
“State of mind,” Erica answered. “Clothes are just clothes.”
“Thank you,” Derek answered before hanging up. “State of mind,” he shouted to Stiles before walking away, listening to his sister’s laughter as he did.

oh yeah also @pale-silver-comb had one of her usual cute idea where Stiles buying pride sheets for him and Derek.
Why: I’m not usually one for outsider perspective, but this
one was a fun little treat! I’m always amused by the idea of Stiles being an
enigma to other college kids, especially when he’s also dating a ridiculously
hot guy. (One they think he just met).
It’s adorable how concerned they are for him, and the ending was super cute!
Why: This is such a wonderfully soft, sweet fic. I don’t
want to give too much away, but I do love it when two people, hurt in different
ways, help to heal each other. It also features both musician Derek and musician Stiles, which I absolutely adore. It’s technically a Christmas fic, but I promise it can lift your spirits
any time of year!
Why: This is a lovely, melancholy fic that gradually
resolves itself into a happy ending. Both Derek and Stiles’ feelings and
reactions felt very real, and the state Stiles was in made my heart hurt a
little. Seriously, if you don’t mind some angst, go read this fic!
Why: This is one of my fave fics ever! It’s one of the most
unique takes on dragon biology that I’ve seen, and honestly Stiles and Scott
make perfect dragons. Then you have Derek the werewolf, who eventually figures
out he’s being an asshole and fixes it. Seriously, it’s so good, just read
it!
