Leveraged an inventory of established fictional character and setting elements to generate a disruptive custom-curated narrative entertainment asset.
I worked in HR, handling applications and interviews, and if someone turned in that string of techno babble nonsense, I would have rejected them out of hand.
A resume doesn’t need to sound fancy or overly technical, it needs to tell us why we should hire you.
“Independent novelist/writer” is more than sufficient here. If you want to express the skills that fan fiction taught you, something like, “creative writing, editing, and publication,” will get you a lot further than… Whatever that just was.
A resume should be tailored to the position, if you can afford the time and energy for that. But if not, then just think about what writing got fandom taught you. How to respond to criticism, how to present a professional pubic face, how to correct punished mistakes, creative thinking, project planning, persuasion via emotional leverage, html formatting, office suite fluency.
There are a lot of actual, marketable skills that go into fan fiction.

One of the (many) banes of chronic illness is the absurd amount of meds. Here’s some things I’ve found helpful throughout the years! Feel free to add on 🙂
As your doctor prescribes them, these questions may be helpful:
What will these medications be doing in my body? How do they work?
What will this be targeting?
What symptoms should I expect to get better? Which may get worse?
What side effects should I look out for?
What signs are there that I need a lower/higher dosage?
What interactions will this have? Is it okay with all of the things I’m already on?
Should these be taken with food, on an empty stomach, other?
When you get them from the pharmacist:
Make sure you get information sheets on the meds if they have them.
Always ask them about possible medication, food and substance interactions.
Ask about storage, policy for missing a dose, whether or not they can be crushed, etc.
The bolded above are all great things that you should ask your pharmacist as well as your doc.
Things you can do to make it easier:
Google your medications, see if there are any interactions you may not know about still. This post has some resources.
Make a list of all of the medications you’re on, what dose you have to take and when. Trust me.
Set alarms for whenever you need to take a dose.
Make a checklist if you need to.
Separating them into pill boxes can be helpful, but time consuming. I’d recommend at least doing it for any AM dosages.
There are health apps designed to help you keep track too!
When taking them:
Reward yourself! Listen to music, watch a show afterwards, watch cute videos during, etc.
If they taste bad, taking them with a bite of food or a yummy drink can help. I’ve found honey to be helpful for the ones that dissolve quickly.
Also if they feel stuck in your throat, drinking something or swallowing a bite of food can help.
Best of luck! If you ever need a suffer buddy, my inbox is always open ❤
Fantastic advice, especially on what questions to ask.
Other ideas for things to ask your doctor, pharmacist, or Google:
If the drug has any contraindications (because who knows if this doctor knows and remembers your full medical history).
If there is any risk of dependence or building a tolerance over time.
What the procedure is for stopping the medication: whether you can just stop taking it or if you need to go off of it slowly.
How the drug might affect your immune system/blood pressure/any other part of your body’s functioning that you have trouble with already.
So I was taught a lesson in how to get rid of a migraine in 30 seconds and omfg listen my migraines don’t go away ever but I was shown what part of my body to touch and like???????????????
It’s witchcraft????????? Like I would be burned at the stake if I lived in ye olde days knowing that information?????
What the fuck??????
Spill it! Lol….Hooooowwwww?? Had migraines since age 9….😓😓😓
Its called the T4 push, but I literally can’t find the info online????? I guess I’m not searching good enough? These medical fuckers are holdin out on us lol.
It’s best to have someone do this for you while you stand up and relax your muscles as best you can, but if you’re alone, a tennis ball and a flat surface will probably work. Alternatively you can lie on the edge of a bed at the pressure point. (But no really do try to find someone to do it for you)
Find the area in your spine between either the first, second, third, or fourth vertebrae. It should be sore and uncomfortable to press down on, so look for the one that’s most painful, and press down with as much pressure as you can on that area for 30 seconds.
Realize that 80% of your pain has magically disappeared and keep the info secret if you live in a small puritan town, lest you be tried for witchcraft.
If you don’t have to worry about being burned or hanged, then share the info with your migraine suffering friends.
As someone who wrote a 10k word paper on pressure points for a high belt ranking test in her martial arts class, I can tell you that you just found a pressure point used in acupressure and acupuncture to relieve pain, particularly that in the head. 🙂
Hand to god we discovered this by accident when my husband was rubbing my neck and I nearly collapsed it felt so good
This post was sent by literal angels??? I’ve had a persistent low-level headache for nearly 24hrs and now it’s gone??? In 30 seconds? What gods did you sacrifice to for this information!?!?
As a medical massage therapist, I thought I would give my two cents.
This is good for tension migranes and normal migraines, but actually pretty useless for sinus migraines. It’ll help for a hot second, but quickly come back. (These are usually the migraines behind your eyes, in your ears, and behind your forehead. Sometimes it can feel like jaw pain or TMJ) for sinus migraines, behind the ear in a divot. Press down firmly and pull towards your collarbone. That’ll drain your sinuses. Also, pressing around the eye socket on the cheekbones help. There is also a little triangle up away from the eye in the eyebrow bone. Press and hold pretty hard and that’ll relieve that behind the forehead pain. Also, ear pulling is great to help move sinuses around.
Don’t forget the temples too! Press firmly and hold. Open and close your jaw while holding your temples. It’ll feel weird, but it’ll help with jaw pain. It’ll work a similar way if you hold the jaw joint under your cheekbone.
And never underestimate the power of a foot massage!! Give minutes can be all the difference!! Our feet are our base. If they hurt even a little, somewhere else in your body will hurt. Treat your feet and sinuses kindly!
As a lifelong sufferer from frequent migraines I will reblog this everytime I see it, for myself and my fellow sufferers!!
“jealousy is so disgusting” “anger is so toxic” did u know? these are emotions every human has
I’ve always been a fan of an analogy I heard once. Your emotions are like one of the lights on your car’s dash. When one of them turns on, it means you need to check under the hood and fix them. It’s not bad that the light turned on, per se, and it doesn’t always mean something is broken. But what IS toxic, dangerous, and likely to break something, is when you let that light stay on, pretending it’s normal, until that braking fluid finally fails and you crash into someone, or your engine fails completely.
Feel jealous. Feel anger.
Just don’t let it fester. You need to look inside of yourself, find out why you’re feeling the way you are, and bring yourself to a satisfied, stable state of mind. You can look at philosophy, meditation/introspection, religion, or actual therapy, or at least talking to someone about it. You’ll find you’re much more content and happy when you do something about those feelings, and come to some sort of conclusion or resolution.
That is a wonderful way of looking at it, thankyou. Makes me feel better about myself when I DO feel that way.
the greatest skill a woman can learn for herself is self reliance
to clarify … so many strong women in my life rely on men. that dependence is dangerous. ladies here are some good ref resources I’ve found helpful on my journey towards self reliance
where are those startups that are disrupting the glasses industry
zenni and it’s amazing and i love it 40 dollar bifocals fuck yeah
Hey I’m reblogging this again because if you need glasses here’s what I do:
Go to Costco/Sams Club/WalMart – wherever they’ve got that $58 eye exam. That’s with no insurance, btw. Just $58 cash on the counter, you get your eyes examined.
They’ll give you a copy of your prescription. ASK THE DOCTOR TO MEASURE YOUR PUPIL DISTANCE. If they don’t it’s not a huge deal, you just have to have a ruler around that has millimeters so you can measure it yourself and it won’t be as accurate but being off by as much as a centimeter isn’t a problem.
Make them give you a copy of your prescription – you are allowed to have this, they have to give you it, you don’t have to buy glasses there. If anyone challenges you say you need a copy for your records and you’re not going to buy glasses today.
Go to https://www.zennioptical.com/ and start looking at frames/glasses that you like. If you create an account it’ll let you upload a photo and based on your pupil distance the site will estimate how well various frames will fit you.
Add the frames you like to cart and start checking out – the checkout process will ask you for your RX details that will be written in the boxes on your RX page. It’s pretty intuitive to copy it over but if you get lost use the livechat feature on the zenni page.
Start selecting your glasses details. Your RX will determine what kind of lens you get (go with the one zenni recommends for materials and thickness) but your needs will determine the other stuff. I make sure to get the fancy oleophobic coating because I’m a slimy bog monster. I also get the cheapest pair of sunglasses possible because bog monsters hate the sun. You can get transitions lenses or anti-scratch coating or super lightweight lenses or whatever works best for you. The extras will add up in cost but you gotta do what you gotta do – my life is much better with a pair of sunglasses than it is with some clip-ons for my regular glasses; your life may be better with transitions lenses instead of carrying a second set of glasses. DO WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU.
Don’t bother paying the rush shipping, this is going to take two weeks regardless.
GLASSES ARRIVE. WEAR GLASSES.
If the fit isn’t perfect see if the place that did your eye exam will adjust the fit for you. They often will free of charge.
GLASSES. GLASSES. I CAN SEE.
PROGRESSIVE BIFOCALS THAT COST $40 WITH CUTE FRAMES AND NICE COATING.
SUNGLASSES.
FUCK
It costs less for me to get two pairs of bifocals, one tinted and one clear, with special coatings and nice frames than it would cost me to get one pair of single-vision glasses from Warby Parker.
The cheapest frames available for adults on Lenscrafter’s site is $69.95. That is JUST the frames, not the lenses. The lenses are like $200. The anti-glare coating is like $70. THE ANTI GLARE COATING IS FREE AND INCLUDED WITH YOUR PURCHASE AT ZENNI. Just the frames and the coating at lenscrafters costs more than my two pairs of glasses AND my eye exam.
I can’t articulate how many literal headaches Zenni has saved me because I just used to wear my old prescription until I had trouble keeping my eyes open from the strain. Now at the first hint of eye strain it’s like “Not today, Satan!” and I can plan for the $100 expense that’s going to last me potentially years.
I’ve had glasses places try to bully me into buying their overpriced glasses (even though they were supposed to offer eye exams no strings attached.) The Stanton Optical manager called me repeatedly trying to get my sale, after one of his employees literally mocked me for wanting to buy cheaper glasses online. I was firm about it and didn’t give in because fuck them.
also just a quick note on pupil distances:
if you’re PD is like mine and ends in a .5 or something like that and they only have whole numbers put the nearest whole number in the box then add a note with your real PD and they’ll fix it
ive been buying from them for 2+ years and their glasses start at $6 and they dont charge extra to put your prescription in. the only thing is that it takes about 2 weeks for the glasses to get to you but its worth it. my glasses are still in good condition and they always have bogo sales. and they give you like I think 10 or 15% off your first purchase if you use this code IFR6WNLQ4H
Zenni is great. I have a pretty terrible prescription and I only paid $30. And that was after getting sunglass clips.
Oh yeah. Sunglass clips! They’re a thing on Zenni. In many different colours. So not just sunglasses, but pink and blue and yellow so if you get migraines from indoor light and such, you can get yellow clips and they make things a little less harsh.
Seriously, my glasses usually cost upwards of $100 for the prescription alone. Go for online. I promise, it’s worth it.
U kno what I rlly might thank u for the suggestion this is genuinely a problem for me. Does it rlly help tho? Like sometimes reminders don’t work if they only tell me once 😡
