I hear a lot of people bitching that they can’t leave kudos multiple times per story, or can’t leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.

Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear I’ve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multiple people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.

The bar just got raised, folks.

Would… would writers be glad to read a comment, that is saying “kudos”?

We’re happy to get a smiley face, honestly. Leaving another kudos like this is great. Anything that tells us we aren’t just screaming into the void

^^^^^ This. Even the smallest comments are golddust.

Seconding, thirding, and fourthing all of this. Saying or typing anything is amazing.

writers are happy with anything that isn’t ‘update pls’ when you just uploaded. type the alphabet and we’ll be grinning like fools cuz ‘sames’.

Dang I know what to do now!!!!

Oh, but you can get creative with your extra kudos!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

(✿◠‿◠) – “I heart this so much!!”
⊂◉‿◉つ – “OMG, the surprise was so sweet!
☆(❁‿❁)☆ – “AHH! Love it!”
≧◠‿◠≦ – “All the feels!”
٩(˘◡˘)۶ – “Woot!!”
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) – “I see what you did there and/or that smut was on point.”
┑( ̄▽ ̄)┍ – “Sweet praises for you!”
ლ(╹◡╹ლ) – “I love this story so hard, I get tingles when it updates!”
ʘ‿ʘ – “WHat?!”
(●⌒∇⌒●) – “Squee!!”
(❁´◡`❁) – “Oh dear god, cavities!”
(ノ´▽`)ノ♪ – “This made me siiiinnnnnggggg!!”
┏(^0^)┛ – “Happy dance!”
ヾ(^∇^) – “Wonderful fic! Thanks again!”

OMG sadface.

(┬_┬) – “Literally crying, rn.”
(^)o(^) – “Holy moly!”
(◕﹏◕✿) – “How … how could you do this to me?!”
ಥ‿ಥ – “I’m not crying you are!”

FLAMES!

ᕕ(◉Д◉ )ᕗ – “WTAF?!”
(⊙…⊙,) – “Did yoU JUST.”
ᕕ(˵•̀෴•́˵)ᕗ – “HOW DARE YOU! With my OWN EYES!”
(ノ°Д°)ノ︵ ┻━┻ – “TABLE FLIP, you son-OF-A-!”

I canNOT with you!

(@[]@!!) – “WHAT IN THE HOLY HELL ARE YOU DOING?!”
\(◎o◎)/!– “WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT.”
(´・_・`) – “I do not know how I feel about this.”

Assorted.

><((((’> – “This fish is delicious.”

Feedback means everything to fanfic writers and hitting a like or kudos button doesn’t really give that. Even one word reviews do wonders

I’ve left reviews that literally just read:

*screaming*

*Hands over Jar of Reader’s Tears*

*Screaming in delight*

Etc

saving this just for the faces. omg

Oh hey it’s back on my dash perfect!  I was just thinking of this the other day!

OHOHOHO wow the Korean alphabet is awesome. The people who designed it were geniuses and were obviously incredibly schooled in the morphology and phonology of their language. HNNGGG

wow

FUN FACT!

IT WASN’T JUST ANY OLD DUDE WHO DECIDED, “HEY I WANT TO CREATE A KOREAN ALPHABET.”

IT WAS KING SEJONG, WHO ORDERED HIS ROYAL SCHOLARS TO CREATE THIS ALPHABET SO READING AND WRITING COULD BE ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE, EVEN THE PEASANTS. IT WAS PURPOSELY DESIGNED TO BE EASY TO LEARN.

SO SHOUT OUT TO KING SEJONG, WHO REALIZED BEFORE MANY OTHERS THE IMPORTANCE OF UNIVERSAL LITERACY.

YOU GO KING SEJONG, FOUR FOR YOU KING SEJONG

Wow, I wish I’d given it a look before. Korean is actually the most sensible, reasonably constructed writing system I’ve ever seen, and I’m the kind of person who casually browses http://www.omniglot.com

PSA

You feel like shit is a website set up to help you get out of that funk/improve things just enough to not feel horrible and miserable all the time.  It’s amazing.

Whether you struggle with mental health problems all the time or whether this is a new/temporary state for you, this guide is an easy and judgement-free self-care tool.

PLEASE TRY IT OUT!  Really!  You just click through the questions to answer and follow simple instructions that in the end, ideally, will help you to feel more comfortable and stable on a daily basis.

Good luck!  Have fun!

Wow this self-care took is incredible.

I’m feeling ok right now and am about to settle into bed (but this was scheduled hence the early morning post) but I flipped through it for awhile just to see what it is like and holy crap it’s like a choose-your-own-adventure of self-care activities that not only aims to engage you in positive feel good behaviors but also tries to match its suggestions to your level of energy/ability/can even.

I think I am going to use this definitely when I am having a bad time but maybe also try to incorporate it into my life on at least a weekly if not a daily or semi-daily basis.

This is super super awesome!

Adding this to my resource list.

I LOVE this. Love this.

I use this on a daily basis and I LOVE it! it’s kept me from forgetting to take my meds and being all pissy the next day lol.

This is absolutely fantastic! I haven’t tried out every option on there but I went through it once as a test and was super impressed.

Let’s talk about mynoise.net

Have you ever been listening to Rainymood and thought, “Yeah, this is good … but it would be nice if I could customize the sound more, or if there was a little more choice.

Let me introduce you to MyNoise.

MyNoise is a customizable sounscape looper with so many options, even within each soundscape.  So say, for instance, you really love rain sounds when you write or study or relax.  Anything.  I know I’m a big fan of rain sounds.  They have a page for that.

image

But say you like really high, pattery rain, and LOTS of low thunder.  Here’s where MyNoise really stands out: you can customize that.  See those sliders with all the cute colors?  That is your equalizer. You can adjust the levels based on what you want to hear more and less of.  Here’s how it looks when you want high, pattery rain and low, rumbly thunder:

image

But say rain isn’t really your jam.  Say you want something a little more ambient, a little more background noise-y.  Something with people.  Well, they have customizable coffee house chatter that even has the levels listed for things like “kitchen,” “babble,” and “table”:

image

Or say you miss the ocean.

image

Or say you miss your cat.

image

Or say you miss your spaceship.

image

Or say you miss the dungeon where you and your team of scalawag adventurers used to explore and face off against, say, dragons.  In the dungeon.

image

This site is seriously so helpful, and those are just a fraction of every kind of sounscape the site has to offer.  The best part is that if you want to layer it with music (for instance, I’ll layer a playlist + rain + coffee shop if the scene I’m writing takes place in a coffee shop), you can adjust the master volume, meaning all of your layers stay at their respective volumes, just louder or quieter.

Enjoy!

OH MY GOD

Y’ALL I JUST STARTED USING THIS TODAY BUT THIS HAS BROKEN THROUGH MY WRITER’S BLOCK LIKE NOTHING ELSE.

TRY IT.  USE IT.  LOVE IT.

Gonna try this later. Seems like an amazing great idea

I can vouch this is THE LITERAL BEST NOISE APP EVER. EVER. The noise are high quality, highly varied, easy to adjust in nearly infinite ways. GET THIS.

fyi non-natives wearing moccasins isnt cultural appropriation but if you want moccasins you should definitely be buying them from natives. otherwise youre creating profit for the white people who were/are trying to exterminate us.

I was told this by a Native American guy I went to school with so now I do that. I’d rather put money back where it belongs. This resonates deeply with me as a black woman who tries to support Black and Non White individuals. – K

!!! Please this thing, don’t buy crappy moccasin rip off shoes from chains, please make sure you buy authentic ones made by us!! Also stop wearing them in the fucking rain and ruining them goddamnit

also the ones made by first nations are always way better anyway????? there’s this woman named Sunshine Tenasco-Brazeau in eastern canada that makes them for babies and they’ve been known to sell like crazy because they’re amazing. You can get them here and she employs tons of other first nations women and it’s a great little native-owned company.

Reblogging this for the links in the last comment. It’s really cool to raise awareness, but it’s even cooler with something like this to provide links to places where you can actually buy the goods in question!

I just found an INCREDIBLE youtube channel for learning spanish. Its this guy talking about various topics, slowly and using basic vocabulary. He includes imagery and draws out the story on paper while talking. It’s called Dreaming Spanish. He has playlists set up based on topic, and another set of playlists based on level (he has three, super beginner, beginner, and intermediate), and I imagine it’s extremly useful for anyone who knows a handful of spanish, but would like to improve vocabulary and grammar.

Just in case you forget this exists.

It exists.

With those “when you want to design a character but you don’t know color theory” posts flying around I thought this would be relevant again.

SLAMs THE REBLOG BUTTON

there’s also Coolors website that gives you randomized palettes!

image

Don’t forget ColourLovers, either! It’s a social media-esque site where you can browse tons of palettes and share your own.

You can browse the most popular ones or search for certain colors, themes, and even specific hex codes!

When you find one you like, you can download a wallpaper swatch of it and also select the specific colors it uses to look at more palettes that use those same ones.

ColourLovers is my go-to for when I’m having trouble coming up with a color scheme! It’s also been around for over a decade, so there’s plenty to browse through.
