It’s late, but Stiles knows these woods like the back of his hand. Probably even better than that, seeing how he’s acquired several new scars over the past year and a half. The leaves rustle under his heavy boots and he feels himself start to relax for the first time since the war started.
“…but you’re saying the signal is more indicative of the Variscan? Because that doesn’t make sense. There aren’t any Variscan aged formations in the area.”
Derek steps into the house and sighs deeply, all of the stress he’s accumulated over the last 24 hours dissipating as he focuses on the familiar heartbeat.
