I just ADORE this scene. Because it’s clear in almost every aspect of Stiles’ character that Stiles has always felt second in importance to the Sheriff’s job.

The job is not just what the Sheriff does, it’s who he is, and his role as Stiles’ father often seems to come second to that. So Stiles drives himself to school and puts himself to bed and makes sure his dad eats healthy and does all these other parentified things, and one of the lowest points in his life is when he costs the Sheriff his job.

The Sheriff telling Stiles that not only is he important, but that he’s MORE important than the job – than the whole STATION – that the straight-laced, rule-following Sheriff would burn the station to the ground and break every law to protect Stiles? That’s just amazing, and it was exactly what Stiles needed to hear more than anything just then.
